GREENSBORO — In their first season in the National Arena League, the Carolina Cobras football team will host the championship game.

The Columbus Lions and coach Jason Gibson will visit the Greensboro Coliseum at 7 p.m. Aug. 27 to face the Cobras for the title.

Gibson played for the Greensboro Prowlers in the now-defunct af2 arena league and was a coach at Guilford County high schools.

The Cobras (11-5) defeated Jacksonville 73-48 on Tuesday night at the Coliseum to advance.

Jacksonville committed 22 penalties and two players were ejected.

The Cobras and Lions (9-7) played three times during the six-team league’s regular season, with Columbus winning two games, won 55-54 in Georgia on May 12 and 57-55 on June 23 in Greensboro. and the Panthers one, the third meeting 56-35 on Aug. 4 in Greensboro.
