Mississippi has hired Southern California assistant Ed Orgeron to coach the Rebels, Orgeron’s father told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Ole Miss scheduled a news conference today to introduce a new coach, school spokesman Langston Rogers said, though he declined further comment.

ecu hires snow: Clifford Snow has been named director of football operations at East Carolina University according to an announcement from head football coach Skip Holtz Wednesday.

Prior to his appointment at ECU, Snow served in the same capacity at Southeastern Conference member South Carolina under head coach Lou Holtz beginning in 1999.

Tar Heels fullback Madison Hedgecock, a senior from Wallburg, made the All-America honorable-mention list. So did N.C. State linebacker Mario Williams, a sophomore.

Pro Football Weekly’s All-America team is selected by personnel analyst Nolan Nawrocki.
