GREENSBORO — Greensboro Day basketball player Carson McCorkle is headed to Argentina to compete for the United States at the Youth Olympic Games.

McCorkle, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, is one of four members of USA Basketball's 3-on-3 U18 national championship team that won the title in the spring in Colorado Springs and will compete in Buenos Aires. The team leaves Friday for South America, and games  begin Sunday. McCorkle's teammates are: Patrick McCaffery (Iowa City West HS), the son of former UNC-Greensboro and now Iowa coach Fran McCaffery; Dudley Blackwell (Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Westminster Academy); and Jyare Davis (Hockessin, Del., Sanford School).

The 3-on-3 games are played in a half-court setting with a 12-second shot clock, with the first team to 21 points or the leading team at the end of the 10-minute game clock winning the game.

A shooting guard, McCorkle recently committed to Virginia. He helped Greensboro Day win the 2018 NCISAA Class 3-A championship. A full schedule can be found here.
