Deonte Eric Smith, 22, was arrested without incident at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office assisted Eden Police in the apprehension of Smith, who was transported to the Rockingham County Detention Center.
Smith is being held without bond.
He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Rockingham County District Court on March 6.
EDEN — A suspect in a residential robbery was killed early Sunday morning and police are searching for another suspect implicated in a forced entry and struggle that injured two homeowners.
At approximately 12:45 a.m. on Feb. 17, Eden Police were dispatched to a home invasion in progress at 803 Bridge St.
When they arrived, they found 21-year-old Dieontra Shukur Clark, a suspect in the crime, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Homeowners Deandre Hill, 26, and Brianna Aleman, 23, also sustained injuries that required medical treatment.
A 5-year-old in the home was uninjured.
According to a news release, Clark and another suspect, 22-year old Deonte Eric Smith, forced their way into the home by gunpoint.
Shortly thereafter a struggle ensued, leading to shots being fired, police said.
Smith, who fled the scene, has been charged with first-degree murder following the death of Clark.
He also faces felony first-degree burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon charges.
No other details have been released by the Eden Police Department at this time.
