MJM Fun Day

More than 250 supporters of Mount Jubilee Ministries raised just over $70,000 on Sept. 7 during the 4{sup}th{/sup} annual Family Fun Walk, Run and Auction.

Funds raised will go toward supporting the special needs population in Rockingham County.

The total raised during the auction at Pennrose Park Country Club, exceeded the ministries’ goal of $50,000.

The Family Fun also featured face painting, music, bouncy houses and fellowship, prior to a 1k and 5k walk/run.

Mount Jubilee Ministries was founded in 2005 by individuals seeking to partner with the special needs population and their families to provide enrichment opportunities to productive living.

For the last 15 years, MJM has also hosted Camp Jubilee — a residential summer camp—that was held at Betsy Jeff Penn 4-H in 2019.

The four-day camp was enjoyed this year by 46 campers and over 60 volunteers.

MJM Executive Director Cecil Cottrell said in a news release that support from the local community has helped in bridging the gap of programs for un-served and underserved adults with intellectual disabilities.

“Thanks to each of you who participated, volunteered, gave generously and supported MJM’s signature fundraising event,” Cottrell said. “In addition to the funds generated from the event, our promise of hope and outreach to the special needs population remains a reality.”

Opportunities to impact the final revenue of the signature event will continue through September.
