MADISON — Juni Roberts knew it was a healthy opening day when her patrons started pitching in.
“Madison has been really good to us so far,’’ said Roberts, who owns the newly opened Ronni’s restaurant with her husband Ronald “Ronni” Roberts. “We had customers helping us bus tables at one point,’’ Judi said of the busy day.
Even at 3 p.m., booths and tables were packed at the cozy new eatery in the New Market Shopping Center on Highway Street.
With down-home décor like vintage photos and farm house touches, Ronni’s announces its menu on a blackboard that spans the back wall of the dining room.
And the couple are seasoned veterans of the restaurant business, having been partners in Reidsville’s mainstay Sanitary Café until 2016. They established Danville’s Farmhouse Family Restaurant and sold the successful dining spot in September.
With full country breakfasts available anytime, the restaurant offers daily specials like meatloaf, tenderloin and gravy, baked fat back, spaghetti ,and baked ham with pineapple glaze -- all served with an array of vegetables, the menu stacks up well with moderate prices.
Grill items like Carolina Burgers with chili and slaw, hot dogs, sandwiches and wings round out the menu, along with an array of salads and seafood platters to boot.
Veterans and senior citizens enjoy a discount, and a children’s menu makes dining out with kiddos affordable.
The Williams Family of Madison was happy to try the new fare on opening day and had two toddler boys in tow.
“We’re very glad to see this open. And I like the menu very much,’’ said Karen Williams.
