WENTWORTH — A Reidsville woman has been accused of embezzling more than $4,000 from a local high school booster club.
Kimberly Trent Green, 41, of 907 Country Club Drive, was arrested on Sept. 11 after being indicted on one count of felony embezzlement in July.
According to the indictment, between Sept. 14, 2014 and Jan. 12, 2017, Green “unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did embezzle” and “knowingly misapply and convert to her own use” a total of $4,640 from the Reidsville High School soccer boosters.
Investigators with the Reidsville Police Department were informed of the situation in late 2017 when another booster reported that funds were fraudulently taken out of the group’s account.
Reidsville High School officials then turned the matter over to the Rockingham County Schools Administrative Office.
Rockingham County Schools Public Information Director Karen Hyler told RockinghamNow that according to Board of Education policy, the school district does support parent organizations as an effective means of actively involving parents in the schools.
However, booster clubs are not considered part of the schools or school district, Hyler said.
According to officials, Green is no longer affiliated with any booster programs that support the school district.
Following her arrest, Green was placed under a $5,000 secured bond.
She is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County Superior Court on Oct. 1.
