EDEN Charles Johnson Nooe, age 88, of Eden, N.C. passed away August 11, 2018, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Leaksville United Methodist Church on Jay Street. Burial will follow at Overlook Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at Leaksville United Methodist Church from 6 to 8 p.m., and other times at the home of his son, Bruce Nooe. Mr. Nooe was born March 6, 1930, and was a lifetime resident of Eden. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. While a student at UNC-Chapel Hill, he was Associate Editor of the Law Review and elected to the Order of the Coif, an honorary society. He received the degree of J.D. in 1958 and practiced law in Eden for 60 years. He served as the City Attorney for Leaksville and then Eden from 1971 to 2001. As a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys' and Girls' Club of Eden, Inc., he served in many positions. Preceding him in death was his mother, Mattie Dillon Nooe, father, Colonel Bennet Nooe, also as an infant by his father, Charles Pender Johnson, and his grandson, Charles McMichael. Surviving are his children, Charles J. Nooe and children, Daniel and Brooks Nooe; Bruce Nooe and children, Caroline and Bennet Nooe; SuEllen Nooe Denison and husband, Paul, and children, Elizabeth and Amy Denison; John Nooe and wife, Tami, and children, Adam Purdy and Jordan Shockley; and Matthew Nooe, his sister, Frances Johnson; niece, Sally Mangum, nephew, Bennet Johnson; the mother of his children, Aileen Nooe; special friends, Martha Holland and Debra Madison; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Kayla Nooe and Skylar McMichael.
