Feaster, Charlotte Staley

RAMSEUR On August 5, 1951, Charlotte Josephine Staley was born to the late Earlie and McCoy Staley in Asheboro, NC. She was among the first graduating class from Eastern Randolph High School in 1969. Charlotte furthered her education by attending Winston-Salem State University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in intermediate education in 1973. Charlotte began her employment as a fifth-grade teacher with Randolph County Public Schools shortly after graduation. She also taught adult basic education for Randolph County. She went on to earn two master's degrees from North Carolina A&T State University: a master's in intermediate education and a master's degree in education administration. Charlotte also taught summer school at NCA&T State University. She worked with Duke University and helped with a Canadian educational study, traveling to Canada on three occasions. After more than 20 years of teaching, she became an assistant principal for Randolph County Schools. She was a previous member of Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Eta Phi Beta sorority. She was a faithful member of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, Missionary president and in charge of the arts and crafts at Vacation Bible School, as well a member of the youth department at Oakland and the ECA Home Demonstration Club. Charlotte was the dean of Christian education of the Deep River Association and the president of the Congress of Christian Education of the Deep River Association. She was the secretary of the Deep River Women's Convention. Charlotte married Jasper Feaster in 1982. There were no children born to this union. Charlotte loved to drive, shop, and she loved to write. She was preceded in death by her father Earlie, mother, McCoy and husband Jasper. On May 26, 2018, Charlotte was called to her heavenly home and departed from her earthly life. She leaves to cherish her memories two brothers, Charles of the home and Steve (Pearline) of Temple Hill, MD, a sister, Vivian (Frank) of High Point, a step-brother, Lee Cokley of Ramseur, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at First Pentecostal Church, 4380 US Hwy. 64 East, Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Oakland-McCrary Cemetery, Ramseur. Kimes Funeral Service, Liberty is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Charlotte Feaster Memorial Fund at BB&T Bank or mailed to Oakland Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 796, Ramseur, NC 27316.
