Mrs. Hazel Eller Bowles, 93, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at the Masonic & Eastern Care Center in Greensboro.A funeral service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday at the Masonic & Eastern Star Home with Chaplain Tommy Jones officiating. A graveside will follow at 2 p.m. at Green Lawn Cemetery in China Grove.

Mrs. Bowles was born Sept. 21, 1911, in Rowan County, the daughter of Thomas M. and Florence Winecoff. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a member and Past Matron of Guilford Chapter #141 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a retired L.P.N.

Mrs. Bowles was preceded in death by her first husband, William W. Eller Sr., her second husband, Walter Bowles, and one sister, Inez Singleton.

She is survived by her son, W. W. "Bill" Eller, Jr. and wife Celia of Greensboro; daughter, Betty Kuge and husband, Donald of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Fleta Cloyd of Shelby, Rachel Bolt of Newport, Tenn., Martha Baton of Del Rio, Texas; brother Thomas Surratt of Charlotte; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends following the service at the Masonic & Eastern Star Home.
