HERBERT EDWARD RIERSON
MADISON Herbert Edward Rierson, 85, of 2527 Bald Hill Loop, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004 at his home.A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Comers Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by the Rockingham County honor guard.
A lifelong resident of Rockingham County, Mr. Rierson was born Dec. 15, 1919 to the late Bud and Bessie Paschal Rierson. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Burlington Industries, Inc. He had attended Comers Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Rierson and a son-in-law, Bob Powers.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Bernice Essick Rierson of the home; a son, Jerry Rierson and wife, Ann of Belews Creek; daughters, Brenda Snider and husband, Doug of Belews Creek, Wanda Collins, and fiance Ray Carter, and Lynn Powers both of Madison; a brother, Ben Rierson and wife, Betty; and sisters, Helen Inman and husband, Wade and Lucille Brim both of Madison; sister-in-law, Margaret Rierson of Madison; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the residence.
