VERA MAE STEPHENSON
BOWMANGIBSONVILLE Vera Mae Stephenson Bowman, 82, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral service for Mrs. Bowman will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bill Johnson and the Rev. Sue Flippin will conduct the service.
Mrs. Bowman was born on March 31, 1922, in Guilford County, to the late Cecil and Clara Montgomery Stephenson. She received her education in the Guilford County Schools and was a lifetime member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in McLeansville. She was a retired seamstress and devoted, loving mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Ford Bowman, who died in 1981 and by a brother, Willard Stephenson.
She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy B. Bodkin and husband Jim of Roswell, Ga., Doris B. Younger and husband John of Gibsonville and Lenora B. Walker of Greensboro; a son, Michael "Mike" Bowman and wife Jennie of McLeansville; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five sisters, Ruth Williams of Edgefield, S.C., Inez Dalton of Greensboro, Loraine Clapp of Burlington, Anita Kelly and husband Jimmy of Painter, Va., Katherine S. Burchett and husband Leonard of Greensboro; a brother, C.T. Stephenson and wife Lucy of Gibsonville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, N. Elm Street Funeral Home.
