EDITH MAE COPPLE OAKES
Mrs. Edith Mae Copple Oakes, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004, at Moses Cone Hospital.The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Hanes Lineberry North Elm Street Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Collis and the Rev. Vincent Wall officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens.
Mrs. Oakes was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lee Roy Oakes. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include four daughters, Sally Jane Oakes of the home, Jeanette and Frank Simpson of Whitsett, Rebecca and Harvey L. Guffey of Ellenboro, Sarah and Archie Luffman of Greensboro; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Willis Copple of Greensboro, Arthur Copple Jr., of Staley and a sister Leona Sparks of Pleasant Garden.
Hanes Lineberry North Elm Street Chapel is assisting the Oakes family.
