Wednesday's COVID-19 numbers: For third day in a row, N.C. sets record-high for hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients

State health officials said 994 people are currently hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19 with 89% of hospitals reporting. That's five more patients than Tuesday's report and the highest number of hospitalizations since the illness was first reported in North Carolina in March.
