North Carolina A&T University's new student union

Construction is more than 60 percent complete on the new student union building at N.C. A&T in Greensboro, N.C. on August 1, 2017.

GREENSBORO — N.C. A&T's new student center won't open until next year, but News & Record staff writer John Newsom got a sneak peak inside the building this week.

The $90 million building sits in the middle of campus between two quads. It will house several restaurants, a food court, the campus bookstore, a ballroom for big events and smaller social and meeting spaces for students.

Student feeds are covering the cost of the building. Construction is expected to be completed by May, and the new student center should be ready for students when the return to campus next August.
