GREENSBORO — Three separate incidents involving dump trucks took three lives in North Carolina on Tuesday.

A Stoneville truck driver died after he ran off a rural Guilford County road near Stokesdale on Tuesday afternoon.

James Lemmie White Jr., 65, was driving a dump truck loaded with soil north on N.C. 68 at Prince Edward Road at about 3:30 p.m., when he came upon a northbound vehicle waiting to turn left, troopers said.

White locked up his brakes and ran off the right side of the road, where the dump truck overturned, troopers said.

He was later pronounced dead at Moses Cone Hospital.

In McDowell County, a construction worker was pinned under the rear of a dump truck shortly before noon Tuesday and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials also said a driver was killed on U.S. 221 north of Marion after a rock came off a dump truck and through the driver's windshield. The victim was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the latter two victims have not been released.
