ARCHDALE — A officer-involved shooting that left an Archdale man dead is being investigated by state authorities.
At 12:09 a.m., Randolph County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to 5783 Zelma Blvd. in Archdale in reference to an assault. There, the deputy encountered a man, 46-year-old Carlos Javier Roman Santiago, who was armed with a knife, according to a sheriff's office news release.
The deputy shot Santiago who was later pronounced dead by EMS.
The SBI has since taken over the investigation. No additional information will be released until the investigation is through, the sheriff's office said.
