GREENSBORO — The local elections board has members again.

Today, four members of the Guilford County Board of Elections will be sworn in: former members Katheryn Lindley and Jim Kimel, and newly appointed members Eugene Lester and T. Anthony Spearman.

The board will also elect a chairman and a vice chairman. Members were appointed Tuesday.

The board has operated as a two-person board since July, when member Don Wendelken resigned. Lindley and Kimel haven’t been able to conduct business due to a lack of a quorum.

The board oversees elections and related matters, including voter registration, certification, election protests and residency challenges.

This election cycle has brought several residency challenges in Guilford County. State law requires the local elections board to schedule hearings within five days of the challenge, and issue a written decision within 20 days.
