RALEIGH — The state House of Representatives unanimously recognized the life and contributions Wednesday of Greensboro police officer Jared Franks, who lost his life last month in the line of duty.
The House passed a resolution honoring Franks' memory 110-0, commemorating him for his dedication to law enforcement during more than two years of service with Greensboro's District Two Patrol Division.
Franks died in a Nov. 10 car crash that occurred as he arrived at the scene of a robbery investigation. His parents, Greensboro Police Capt. Jon and Karyn Franks, were present for passage of the resolution along with other family members and Police Chief Wayne Scott.
State Rep. Jon Hardister (R-Whitsett) introduced the resolution saying that he felt privileged to do so on behalf of "a hero who lost his life protecting our safety."
