Devine and Guy will attend “Ain’t Misbehavin’” performed by A&T students April 26 and will give closing remarks after the show. They’ll also be guests of honor at an invitation-only dinner.
Devine has acted on Broadway, in films and on television. She has won a Primetime Emmy for her role on the TV drama “Grey’s Anatomy” and NAACP Image Awards for her work in the films “Waiting to Exhale” and “The Preacher’s Wife.”
Guy also is a veteran stage and screen actress, with credits that include the films “School Daze” and “Harlem Nights.” In the 1990s, she won six straight Image Awards for her role in “A Different World,” a spin-off of TV’s “The Cosby Show.”
A&T in a release said it created Town & Gown to recognize the relationship between the university and the surrounding community and to showcase the artistic talents of A&T students. A&T said it will invite university representatives and supporters, community leaders and elected officials to the Town & Gown events.
Tickets for the April 26 performance of “Ain’t Misbehavin’” — which features the songs of entertainer Fats Waller — are on sale at the University Ticket Office at Brown Hall on campus or online at www.ncataggies.com. Tickets are $33. The show starts at 8 p.m. in Harrison Auditorium.
Tickets for the April 25 and April 27-28 performances of “Ain’t Misbehavin’” will be available April 11. Tickets are $17 for adults, $11 for seniors and non-A&T students and $6 for children 12 and under. A&T students can get free tickets with a student ID.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. April 25 and April 27-28, with 3 p.m. matinees scheduled on the two weekend days.
