JAMESTOWN — A Jamestown woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her mother.
Tina Lenore Heal, 58, is accused of killing 85-year-old Jean Ruth Oxley, who was found dead Saturday at her residence in the 100 block of Bellwood Court, the Guilford County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Deputies and county EMS responded about 1:30 a.m. Saturday to a report of a suicidal person in the 400 block of Tangle Drive in Jamestown. Someone there told deputies that Heal had tried to kill herself, the sheriff’s office said. She was found and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
While deputies were at the Tangle Drive address, a welfare check was requested for Heal's mother, who lived nearby. The sheriff's office said she had died from "obvious traumatic injuries" that indicated she was the victim of a homicide.
Heal was arrested on the murder charge on Monday after being released from the hospital, the sheriff's office said. She is in the county jail without bail.
