BATON ROUGE, La. - Shaquille O'Neal had 26 points, 18 rebounds and five blocked shots to lead No. 20 Louisiana State to a 101-87 victory over No. 22 Texas.O'Neal had 16 points and 17 rebounds at halftime, then picked up his third and fourth personal fouls on two quick charging calls. He sat out for 9:43 of the second half.

Mike Hansen had 21 points for LSU (2-1), and reserve Harold Boudreaux added 16.

Joey Wright had 30 points for the Longhorns (1-1), while Benford Williams had 24 and Dexter Cambridge 11.

O'Neal had half the points in an 8-0 run that gave the Tigers the lead for good at 23-15.

Texas was within 60-52 when O'Neal had to sit down with 17:08 left in the game, but Shawn Griggs scored seven of his nine points over a 6-minute span, and Boudreaux had four of his 16 to get the lead to 74-58.
