The 2019 Relay for Life of Guilford County, the signature fundraiser of the American Cancer Society, will be Friday, May 17, at Western Guilford High School.
The event will begin with an opening ceremony at 6 p.m.; the Survivors Lap will follow. The Survivors Lap is an inspirational time when survivors are invited to circle the track together and help everyone celebrate the victories they’ve achieved over cancer. Relay for Life also recognizes and celebrates caregivers at the event.

The American Heart Association has named Derek Ellington, Bank of America’s Triad market president, as the chairman for the 25th annual Greater Guilford Heart & Stroke Walk.
The walk, sponsored by Cone Health and Bank of America, will be May 18, at UNCG. The day’s program starts at 8 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m.
Happy Healthy Aging: Planning for the Future will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 23 at the Senior Resources of Guilford Evergreens Lifestyle Center, 1401 Benjamin Parkway in Greensboro.
Five aging specialists will give a presentation with individual breakout sessions to urge participants to think about, “Where do I go from here to age happy and healthy?”
