Herb Hussey was born in Cone Mills Village on July 26, 1928. He married Betty Lou Waldrop in 1951, was drafted into the U.S. Army the same year and returned to Greensboro in 1953.

School: Hussey attended night school and became a graduate of Guilford College in 1963.

Job: He began his career in accounting, becoming a CPA in 1971 and still works as a tax preparer today serving over 80 clients.

Family: Hussey raised four daughters and an adopted son. He has nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Fun fact: Helped his local Smith Center set up the Greensboro Senior Games back in 1985 and has participated all but two years. He finally won five gold medals (table tennis, football throw, softball throw, corn hold, horseshoes) after aging up into the 90-year-olds bracket.
