Crafty Crab coming to town
A new seafood restaurant is coming to the former O’Charley’s restaurant location at 300 E. Hanes Mill Road in Oak Summit Shopping Center.
A sign hung on the building announces that a Crafty Crab restaurant is coming soon. The Winston-Salem location also is listed as coming soon on Crafty Crab’s website, www.craftycrabrestaurant.com, though a message sent to the company was not immediately returned.
O’Charley’s closed without notice this winter. In April, O’Charley’s LLC sold the building to Winston-Salem Retail Management LLC. The company is based in Bingham Farms, Mich., and is an affiliate of Alrig USA, a commercial real estate investment and development firm. The sale price was $1.55 million.
Crafty Crab is a restaurant chain new to Winston-Salem whose core menu consists of seafood boils. The menu posted on its website is nearly identical to the menus of two other restaurants that have entered the Winston-Salem in the last year, Red Crab off Hanes Mall Boulevard and Juicy Crab on Peters Creek Parkway.
Crab, shrimp, crawfish and more are available with a handful of buttery sauces, including Cajun and lemon pepper, and delivered to the table in a large plastic bag, along with bibs and lots of paper towels. The restaurant also sells such items as fried shrimp and chicken tenders.
Crafty Crab lists six current locations on its website; all of them are in Florida. It lists 14 locations as coming soon, mostly in Florida, but also including South Carolina, Maryland and Pennsylvania. The Winston-Salem location is the only N.C. location listed.
