What makes your business special?
“We’ve been here since 1967, when my parents opened the restaurant,” says chef and owner Jimmy Contogiannis, “and we became the first restaurant in North Carolina to offer Greek food in 1980. We’re thrilled to be marking our 50th year in business; in fact, we’re planning a big block party in September to celebrate. We also use all fresh products and cook everything to order — no shortcuts. We go the extra mile to make our customers happy. When the customers enjoy the food and leave happy, they come back.”
What’s the best thing about running a business in Guilford County?
“Greensboro — the whole Triad, really — is a great place to live. We’ve seen a lot of growth and new people coming in, and they’re diverse. They enjoy trying different ethnic foods. We have a lot of regulars who come here all the time, but we’re always having new customers come in and say, ‘I’ve lived here 10 years and always wanted to try this place.’ And we’re glad when they finally do.”
