GREENSBORO — Jason Reynolds, the New York Times bestselling author of the young-adult novel "Ghost," is coming to Greensboro and he will be bringing hundreds of free books.
Reynolds will read at Scuppernong Books in April.
The bookstore is just one of two in the country to be named a tour stop for Reynolds.
Reynolds is the author of a series of books for middle school-age students, including the National Book Award finalist "Ghost" about the challenges facing a middle-school track team runner.
As part of Reynolds' mission of providing children in low-income communities with access to books that reflect their own experiences, he will donate over 500 books to a Title I school in Greensboro.
Scuppernong was chosen from 80 American Booksellers Association member stores that submitted proposals to bring Reynolds to town. The other store is in St. Louis, Mo.
Reynolds was the 2018 spokesperson for Indies First, a campaign of authors, readers and publishers held on Small Business Saturday in November to support independent bookstores.
