NOTICE TO BIDDERS Greensboro Coliseum Complex - Arena Facade Enhancements 1921 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, North Carolina 27403 Sealed proposals will be received by the City of Greensboro, in the office of the Facilities Division, 514 Yanceyville Street, Greensboro, NC, up to 2:00 p.m., legal local time, Thursday, June 27, 2019 and immediately thereafter publicly opened and read for the furnishing of labor, material, and equipment entering into the construction of renovating of a new parapet and lighting at the roof elevation of the Arena at the Greensboro Coliseum located in Greensboro, NC. Complete plans, specifications, and contract documents will be available Monday, June 10, 2019. Plans will not be available through plan rooms. No partial sets of documents will be issued. The base bid work will include but not be limited to Construction of a new structural steel parapet at the roof level of the existing Arena as shown on the drawings, new lighting and electrical system as shown on the drawings, and coating of the existing EIFS band near the roof level. Selective demolition and repair of existing roofing and finishes for installation of the new parapet. A Non-Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 10:00 am, legal local time, at the 1921 Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, NC. Bids will be received by single prime format, by general contractors for all work. All proposals shall be based on a stipulated sum basis. Segregated bids will not be accepted. All proposals shall include the cost of all state and local sales and use taxes. All contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper license under the state laws governing their respective trades. General Contractors are notified that Chapter 87, Article 1, General Statutes of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding general contracts. General contractors submitting bids on this project must have license classification for general construction unlimited (set forth the license classification required under G.S. 87-1). Electrical Contractors are notified that Chapter 87, Article 4, General Statutes of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding electrical contracts Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on some bank or trust company, insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to but not less than five Percent (5%) of the proposal, or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent (5%) of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit shall be retained by the Owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten working days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. Each proposal must be accompanied by the documentation required by the City of Greensboro's Minority and Women's Business Enterprise program included in the project manual. Failure to include such documentation is grounds for rejection of the bid proposal. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids, except under the provisions of General Statute 143-129.1, for a period of sixty (60) days.
