ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS IFB#6146 ROOF REPLACEMENT FOR STEEP-SLOPE ROOFS GATEWAY EDUCATION CENTER 3205 East Wendover Avenue GREENSBORO, NC 27405 Sealed proposals will be received by the Guilford County School System until 2:00 P.M. local time, Thursday October 17, 2019 at 501 W. Washington Street, Greensboro NC 27401, Room 100; ATTN: Cynthia Bryant, CLGPO, Purchasing Agent, to furnish all materials and labor for the roof replacement at Gateway Education Center, Greensboro, NC. Please allow enough time to arrive on time, as late bids will not be accepted. A mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at the site at 10:00 AM local time on Wednesday September 25, 2019. Attendees shall meet at the commons area outside the front doors at Gateway Educational Center, 3205 Wendover Ave E, Greensboro, NC 27405. Attendance at this conference is required for all potential bidders to examine the existing conditions and to discuss particular details of the project. Bids will not be accepted from contractors that were not represented at this meeting by an employee on their payroll staff. Bidders must be properly licensed for the work in accordance with Section 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes. Finally, click on the Project Name to access all documents for the project. All official Bid Documents and addenda will be posted to this plan room. Bidders will be responsible for checking the plan room for updates. Paper copies of the drawings and the Project Manual will be available for viewing from 7:30am to 3:30 pm weekdays at the GCS Maintenance Office located at 3920 Naco Rd Greensboro, NC 27403. A brief description of work in the project follows: Existing metal roofing system on the steep-slope areas is to remain in place. Areas of corrosion are to be repaired as required for proper securement of new roofing system. Roof Size is approximately 70,000 square ft. Existing metal roofing that is on vertical surfaces of the building fascia at drainage edges and at the parapet walls at the high side of the roof is to be removed down to the plywood substrate. The roofing system insulation shall be an isocyanurate insulation fill to be custom fit between ribs in existing metal panel roofing and an additional layer of min 1.5" layer of insulation over the entire roof area. The replacement membrane assembly consists of the application of fleece-back PVC single-ply membrane fully adhered to the insulation. Decorative ribs to simulate the look of standing seam metal are to be applied to the field membrane. Scope of Work includes installation of a new perimeter wood nailers and edge metal. Vertical surfaces are to receive a metal panel system between the top of brick and drainage edge of the steep-slope roof. Roofing membrane installation shall be required on-going inspections by the membrane manufacturer during the installation process and will be eligible to receive a 20 year NDL material and labor warranty. Project start date is estimated to be December 1, 2019. Completion date is 180 calendar days after receiving a notice to proceed from the Owner. The resulting contract will be to furnish all labor, supervision, materials and equipment necessary to perform the work as shown on the plans and described in the project specifications. A 5% bid security as well as a 100% Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds are required for this project. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 60 days. Bidders must be properly licensed for the work in accordance with Section 87 of the North Carolina General Statutes. General Contractors must have a general license classification for at least UNLIMITED BUILDING or S (ROOFING) in accordance with the Rules & Regulations of the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors. Minority businesses are encouraged to submit bids for this project. The appropriate forms from the section entitled "Participation by Women and Minority Owned Businesses" must be submitted with each bid to show good faith efforts to obtain Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise participation . E-Verify Requirements: This project requires the awarded vendor to comply with the requirements of E-Verify. (U.S. law requiring companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the United States either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization.) The Guilford County Board of Education awards public contracts without regard to race, religion, color, creed, national origin, sex, age or handicapped condition as defined by North Carolina General Statutes, Section 168A-3.
