Seventy-two people donated money during this week’s fundraiser, said Laura Way, the president and chief executive officer of ArtsGreensboro.

GREENSBORO — A special Arts Giving Day this week raised $10,700 for ArtsGreensboro.

Over 36 hours, from 8 a.m. Tuesday until 8 p.m. Wednesday, 72 donors contributed to ArtsGreensboro’s annual ArtsFund drive, said Laura Way, the president and chief executive officer of the nonprofit organization.

ArtsGreensboro had aimed to raise $20,000 in the Join the Movement campaign to benefit local arts organizations, projects, artists and teachers.

But the $10,700 brings the organization to about 92% of this fiscal year’s goal of $850,000. The campaign ends June 30.

“We hoped to raise more over the 36 hours,” Way said, “However, we are incredibly honored and thankful to those who gave from $5 to $1,000, because all gifts came from the heart.”

The ArtsFund represents Guilford County’s largest comprehensive annual fundraising effort to support arts organizations, initiatives and infrastructure.

It provides financial support to more than 50 nonprofit organizations, projects, artists and teachers.

“We will continue to create energy and enthusiasm around the ArtsFund and the movement for a more creative and colorful Greensboro,” Way said. “ArtsGreensboro is committed to elevating the arts of our entire community and we are working tirelessly to not only meet our overall goal but exceed it.”
