GREENSBORO -- The city has another connection to the Tony Award nominations announced Tuesday in New York.
Drew Gehling, who grew up in Greensboro and graduated from Ragsdale High School in 2001, appears in "Waitress," which was nominated for best musical.
Gehling plays Dr. Pomatter in the musical, which is based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelly.
Gehling also starred on Broadway in "Jersey Boys," as well as originating the role of Bob Gaudio in the Chicago production of the international smash hit.
On television, he has appeared in the series "Elementary," "Smash" and "30 Rock."
