My Most Romantic Valentine's Day Ever — Phyllis Tunstall, Greensboro

My most romantic Valentine's Day was Feb. 14, 1977. My boyfriend of seven years and I went to dinner in Raleigh. We had a candlelight meal with wine and all the trimmings.

For dessert, he gave me a beautiful box of Valentine candy. I opened it, and to my surprise, he had eaten the piece in the center of the box and replaced it with a diamond engagement ring.

I don't know who shed the most tears, me or the waitress.

We were married on July 2, 1977. Twenty years later we are still happily married with two wonderful teenage children.
